SEO
Do you need SEO? What is it exactly?
SEO is the acronym for Search Engine Optimisation. All jargon aside, it’s the process and set of conditions that determine how well your website will rank in a search engine, when someone searches for a set of keywords.
For example, if you type “Florist” into Google, the results that appear will be carefully selected by Google to appear in a very specific order. Google’s job is to give you the best possible results – otherwise you would stop using them and start using Bing or Yahoo (you may already do
).
The exact process that Google uses to determine these results is based on a very complex algorithm, which is obviously a tightly guarded secret held by the Search Engine giant. However, there are a surprisingly large number of things that you can do to affect these results. Most people have heard about SEO, and know they should “be doing it” but are not exactly sure about who to trust to help them, whether they can do it themselves, or whether or not they should just spend money on Google AdWords instead.
