About

- Adam Guerin
Since before 1994 when the internet launched, I was creating Bulletin Board Systems (BBS). My first one, allowed 1 user to connect to my “web site” at a time. Don’t launch, that was state of the art technology hard at work in the early 1990′s.
1994 changed everything though, of course, with the launch of the WWW – the world wide web. Since then I have always been involved in the web industry. What was once obscure, geeky and difficult, is now simple and ubiquitous.
Here’s a few selected snapshots of my experience over the last couple of decades. If you want more information, feel free to get in touch.
Nutwork
In 2008 I co-founded Nutwork with the owners from Loconut. We designed Nutwork from the ground up, to be a specialist open source web design and development firm. Our goal was to offer clients a genuine alternative to expensive licenced Content Management Systems (CMS), but utilising open source packages including WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and others.
Over the years we have designed, developed and launched hundreds of websites all using open source. One of our biggest accomplishments was creating a brand new website for the Perth Zoo – using WordPress. We pushed WordPress to its limits and beyond, and managed to launch a beautiful website that was lovingly designed by hand with all the flexibility of an open source system. The client was extremely happy with the final site, and because it is so easy to update and inexpensive to maintain, more money goes into their conservation projects and less on their IT bills.
Nutwork now specialise in several other web products, such as iPhone applications, Web Video, E-Commerce websites and brochure websites.
My role at Nutwork was initially sales, project management and SEO. Now I manage the business and run the production team to ensure our client always receive the very best in customer service, products and for a fair price. Overall we aim to provide our clients with a truly wonderful experience as designing a new website is actually, a lot of fun.
Loconut
In 2007 I returned to Perth from London, and resumed my consulting services. I met the developers at Loconut, who we’re striving to build up a social networking website called Loconut. At this stage, FaceBook was still relatively small in Australia, particularly Perth, and because I knew how popular it was in the U.S. and of course the U.K., I was keen to get involved.
Initially I provided Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Content and Design consultancy services to the team. After a short stint with them they asked me to come onboard full time and I decided that it was an incredibly interesting project, and I was in.
The site went through a series of design iterations, and some focus group testing. We changed the content strcuture to better suit our audience, added new features that we’re becoming more popular such as Video sharing, and tailored the site to be more and more specific to our local audience.
As FaceBook grew in popularity, we positioned Loconut as a complimentary social network for Perth people who want to know whats going on in their local community. It’s a testament to these changes that Loocnut still runs today – and has lots of active, local users.

Constructing Excellence
From 2004 through to 2007 I worked for a best practice research and consulting firm in the UK called Constructing Excellence.
Here, my main role was project managing and consulting on the best use of technology, primarily web based, for various companies, organisations and government projects.
